The South Greene softball team started hot on Friday in the 40th annual Tiny Day/Red Edmonds Memorial Tournament, but for the second day in a row they let Cloudland rally to a win, this time 9-8.
Friday started with the Lady Rebels jumping in front 7-0, but one big inning from Cloudland made all the difference.
The evening started with South Greene scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Kortnei Bailey started things with a hard groundball through the left side, and a bobble in left field allowed her to safely reach second.
Paisley Brobeck followed by slamming a double into right field for the first run of the night. Hailey Williamson sent a line drive straight up the middle to score Brobeck, before she scored on a wild pitch to make it 3-0.
The Lady Rebels plated four more runs in the second inning.
Reagan Arrowood started the side by hitting into an error that put her on second. With two outs Bailey got another groundball through the left side. Brobeck came up with her second and third RBIs of the contest on a line drive to center field.
Williamson got a single past the shortstop and ended up on third after the Lady Highlanders threw the ball around. Nevaeh Davis made it 7-0 when she fired a line drive into left field.
Neither team could get anything going in the third inning and Cloudland found new life in the fourth frame.
Willow Bennett was hit by a pitch to start the side. Reagan Turbyfill hit a groundball that could have been a double play, but instead turned into an error that left both runners safe.
A walk loaded the bases and then a hard hit ball by Khloe Johnson scored the Lady Highlanders first two runs. Eowyn McCoury sent a two-run single though the right side.
Bennett came back to the plate for a second time in the inning and she sent a two run single into left field. When the Lady Rebels throw to catch Bennett at second missed its target Savannah McCoury scored to put Cloudland in front 8-7.
The side finally finished with Cloudland leading 9-7.
South Greene got one run back in the bottom of the inning, but ended the night with the go-ahead run on first base.
Brobeck finished the night 3-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs. Williamson was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Bailey was 2-for-3.
Bailey took the loss for South Greene. In four innings she struck out three, walked four and allowed six hits.
Morristown West 9, South Greene 0
The South Greene softball team started its day at the Tiny Day Tournament with a 9-0 loss to Morristown West.
Five errors ended up dooming the Lady Rebels and leading to seven unearned runs.
South Greene was held to two hits, a single each from Nevaeh Davis and Macy Roberts.
Morristown West got eight hits from eight different batters. Jordyn Carroll had a double.
Davis took the loss. In 1 1/3 innings she allowed five hits with one strikeout and no walks.
West Ridge 4, Greeneville 2
The Greeneville softball team finished up its suspended Thursday night contest with West Ridge on Friday evening, but the score did not change and the Lady Devils fell 4-2.
Greeneville did manage to put the tying run on base on Friday, but could not push her across.
Brynlee Jones took the loss. In six innings she struck out six, walked two and allowed five hits.
At the plate Greeneville was held to four hits. Jones had a two-run home run. Baylee Ramsey, Kaley Garland and Abi Deeble all had singles.
Greeneville 12, Polk County 0
The Greeneville softball team got dominant pitching and 16 hits on Friday night in a 12-0 win over Polk County.
Brylee Tullock had a huge day at the plate, going 4-for-4 with two triples, two RBIs and three runs scored. Brooke Parsley went 2-for-4 with a triple, double and two RBIs. Brynlee Jones was 3-for-4 with a triple. Kaley Garland went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs. Baylee Ramsey went 2-for-3 with a triple and three runs scored.
In the circle Jones earned the win. In four innings she struck out nine, walked one and allowed one hit.
East Hamilton 5, Greeneville 1
The Greeneville softball finished Friday in the Tiny Day Tournament with a 5-1 loss to East Hamilton.
The Lady Greene Devils were held to four hits. Brooke Parsley was 2-for-3. Gabby Atchison and Kinslee Lewandowski each had a single.
Jamie Jackson took the loss. In four innings she only allowed four hits, with no strikeouts and no walks.
Tennessee High 8, Chuckey-Doak 2
In its third game of the Tiny Day/ Red Edmonds Memorial Tournament the Chuckey-Doak softball team fell to Tennessee high 8-2.
Tennessee High only mustered three hits, but five walks, and five errors proved to be too much for Chuckey-Doak to overcome.
For Chuckey-Doak was 2-for-3 with a double. Jayden Myers was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Madisyn Miller had a double.
In the circle Elizabeth Manuel took the loss. She struck out three, walked five and allowed three hits with no earned runs.
Volunteer 10, Chuckey-Doak 0
Chuckey-Doak finished Friday night with a 10-0 loss to Volunteer in the Tiny Day Tournament.
Chuckey-Doak was held to two hits. Paylin Shelton and Hayleigh Seidl each had a single.
Elizabeth Manuel took the loss. In three 3.1 innings she struck out three, walked four and allowed four hits.
