The Tennessee Sports Writers Association released its girls basketball All-State teams on Wednesday and two local athletes were recognized for being among the top players in the state.
North Greene’s Tralyn Southerland was named to the Class 1A All-State team, and Greeneville’s Brylee Tullock was named to the Class 3A All-State Team.
Tullock had a huge senior campaign for the Lady Devils where she averaged 19.4 points, 8.1 rebounds, 6.6 assists, and 3.4 steals per game. She turned in 11 double-doubles and five triple-doubles this season on her way to being named the Greene Sports Zone Player of the Year.
She finished her career with 2,638 points which is good enough for fifth all-time in Northeast Tennessee.
Southerland was a force in the paint for North Greene, who as a sophomore led the Lady Huskies to their seventh consecutive Class 1A State Tournament appearance.
For the year Southerland averaged 15.9 points, 9.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 2.0 steals per game. She shot 48.5 percent from the field despite facing constant double teams.
