GREENEVILLE, Tenn. — Brandon Steele has resigned as the head baseball coach at Tusculum University announced Josh Ealy, Vice President for Athletics.

Steele is stepping down officially on May 31 of this year to pursue other opportunities outside of coaching.

Longtime associate head coach Todd Ireland will serve as the interim head coach as a national coaching search gets underway, according to Ealy.

Including the last eight years as head coach, Steele has been part of the TU baseball program for 23 seasons. As head coach, he amassed a 176-187 overall record including 16-33 this spring, finishing 10th in the South Atlantic Conference.

“I want to thank Coach Steele for his years of service to Tusculum University and our baseball program,” Ealy said. “He has made a positive impact on the lives of so many young men during his time at Tusculum. I wish Brandon and his family nothing but the best as they begin this next chapter in their lives.”

The London, Ontario native mentored four All-Americans, three Academic All-Americans, seven All-Region honorees and 21 All-Conference selections during his time as head coach, including 2019 SAC Pitcher of the Year Charles Hall.

“I am very grateful to (former head coach and athletic director) Doug Jones and Josh Ealy for all their support over the years,” Steele said. “Tusculum will always hold a special place in my heart and I am thankful to all the student-athletes, coaches and support staff who have been a part of this 23-year run. But I especially want to thank my wife Mary Kay and our kids, Samantha and Gunner. They are the center of my universe and have been, and always will be my greatest supporters.”
