GREENEVILLE, Tenn. — Tusculum University has named Mackenzie Ingrassia as its new beach volleyball head coach announced Josh Ealy, TU Vice President for Athletics.
Ingrassia becomes the fifth head coach in the history of the TU women’s beach volleyball program.
The Stephens City, Virginia native has coaching experience at the collegiate, high school, club and recreational levels.
At the collegiate ranks, Ingrassia had coaching roles with two programs at the University of Lynchburg. For the men’s volleyball program, she served as an intern, working directly with the coaching staff to develop training sessions and assist in team operations. After an in-season injury cut her beach volleyball playing career short, Ingrassia’s involvement turned to leadership where she provided on-court guidance and strategic feedback for the remainder of her final year, all the way to the national championship tournament.
“We are very excited to have Mackenzie join our Tusculum family and lead our beach volleyball program,” Ealy said. “During the interview process it was evident she is committed to the student-athlete experience and a holistic approach to coaching our young women. I am excited to see where she can take our program!”
Ingrassia’s coaching career began with summer camps, teaching fundamentals for Frederick County Parks and Recreation. She then became an assistant coach for the Blue Ridge Volleyball Club and BRVA Beach club, running clinics and open gyms focusing on skill development and athlete engagement. During the 2024 season, Ingrassia was a volunteer assistant coach at E.C. Glass High School, helping lead the program to a state quarterfinal appearance.

I want to thank President Scott Hummel, Josh Ealy, and everyone at Tusculum who welcomed me throughout this process and entrusted me with this opportunity,” said Ingrassia. “From the very beginning, it was clear that Tusculum is a place that truly invests in its people and values the student-athlete experience. I’m excited to build meaningful relationships with our student-athletes, establish a culture centered on growth and accountability, and help continue moving this program forward. I can’t wait to get to work and be a part of the Tusculum Family.”
Ingrassia graduated from the Lynchburg in 2026 where she majored in health and physical education with a minor in coaching. She was a member of the Dean’s List every semester. As a beach volleyball student-athlete, Ingrassia recorded eight wins, including seven as a freshman.
Outside of athletics, Ingrassia has been a fitness attendant, a student physical education teacher, and a social media manager for a construction company.
