FOOTBALL:

North Greene 0, Parrotsville 42

Parrotsville put up a strong offensive showing, racking up 215 yards of total offense and running away with the 42-0 win over North Greene at the Tundra.

Jayden Stinnett was the workhorse for the Parrots racking up 5 touchdowns on the game. He rushed for 169 yards on 11 carries and 4 touchdowns. His additional score came on a 35-yard punt return.

Rykeir Moratalla carried the ball 8 times for 17 yards to lead the Huskies.

The Huskies fall to 1-2 overall and play Unaka next Thursday.

Greeneville 24, Liberty Bell 26 (OT)

Greeneville and Liberty Bell battled back and forth Thursday evening in Johnson City, with the Patriots holding on for a 26-24 overtime victory.

Dreke Richard put Greeneville in business quickly, returning the opening kickoff 66 yards to the Liberty Bell 10-yard line. Three plays later, the Greene Devils jumped out in front when Alijah Goode scored the first of his three touchdowns on the night. The two-point conversion failed, leaving Greeneville with a 6-0 lead.

The advantage was short-lived, however, as the Patriots returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown to knot the game at 6-6.

Greeneville carried a 12-6 lead into the locker room and extended its advantage to 18-6 in the third quarter. Liberty Bell answered by cutting the deficit to 18-12 by the end of the period.

The Patriots had a chance to take the lead with just 20 seconds remaining in regulation, but Zavi Dickson came up with a huge stop for a loss on the two-point conversion attempt, sending the game into overtime.

Liberty Bell scored on its overtime possession and successfully converted the two-point attempt to take a 26-18 lead.

The Greene Devils refused to go away quietly, though, as Goode found the end zone for the third time, cutting the deficit to 26-24 to set up the game’s final play.

Greeneville quarterback Easton Ricker attempted to make the pitch on the two-point conversion while being tackled. Goode scooped up the loose ball and appeared to punch it into the end zone to tie the game. However, an inadvertent whistle brought the play to an end, giving the Patriots the hard-fought victory.

The Devils fall to 2-1 and host Norris next Wednesday night.

Cocke County 35, South Greene 14

South Greene traveled to Cocke County and suffered their first loss of the season in a 35-14 defeat.

The offense reached 235 yards of offense. Jamie Devera was a leader on offense too with 11 rushes for 107 yards and a touchdown. Braevyn Myers led the team in receptions with 5 catches for 52 yards. Brayson Hope added 9 rushing yards and a touchdown.

The Rebels slipped to 3-1 with the loss and will travel to Providence Academy next Thursday.
