Kingsport 8 – Greeneville 4
Greeneville outhit Kingsport 11-6 in the opening game of their series, but the Flyboys stranded 13 runners, and the Axmen capitalized with a pair of two-run homers in the sixth inning to secure an 8-4 victory. With the win, the Axmen extend their lead in the division to 1.5 games.
Peyton Miller led the Flyboys at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three singles, while Grant Hunter added two singles of his own.
Braxton Lewis started on the mound for Greeneville, striking out six and walking two over four innings, allowing two runs on three hits. A.J. Diaz suffered the loss pitching 1 2/3 innings in relief, giving up three runs on one hit while striking out four and walking two.
Game two of the series is set for Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at Pioneer Park.
