GREENEVILLE, Tenn. — The Tusculum University women’s volleyball team kicked off its preseason camp on Wednesday (Aug. 13) in preparation for the upcoming 2025 slate.
The Pioneers, under the leadership of second-year head coach Hannah Barrett, have 27 student-athletes on this year’s roster, representing 11 U.S. States and two countries.
The State of Tennessee has the highest representation with nine student-athletes from the Volunteer State. Included in that total are four players from the eastern part of the state.
This year’s team also includes student-athletes from North Carolina (3), Florida (2), Illinois (2), Louisiana (2), South Carolina (2), Colorado (1), Georgia (1), Indiana (1), Nevada (1), and Texas (1). Two international players are on the TU roster this season, representing Canada and France.
The Pioneers are heavier on underclassmen, with a combined 16 split between freshmen (11) and sophomores (5). However, TU does have solid veteran leadership on the club with nine juniors and two seniors.
Coach Barrett has 10 hitters listed on the roster, joined by seven defensive specialists, four blockers, and three setters. She also has at her disposal three players who can split time between setting, back row defense, and attacking.
Tusculum will host the first of two intersquad scrimmages this Sunday (Aug. 17) as preseason practices and drills continue. The Pioneers will also travel for a pair of scrimmages in the ramp up to competition.
The Pioneers will open the 2025 season on Thursday, Sep. 4, kicking off the annual Pioneer Classic against Auburn-Mongomery at 7 p.m.
