Greeneville runner Trey Bailey has been running away from everyone through the early portion of the cross country season, and after his best performance ever he has been named the Greene Sports Zone Player of the Week.
Through four races this season Bailey has four wins. The most recent coming on Saturday at the Cherokee Classic in Knoxville where was he was first among 243 runners. Bailey ran the five kilometer course in a personal best time of 15:30.88, which was 16 seconds ahead of second place.
Bailey, a junior, placed third a year ago at the Class A-AA State Championship Meet, and is looking to do bigger things this year. He already has a state championship under his belt, winning the 3,200 meters this spring at the Class AA State Track Meet.
