TRACK AND FIELD
On Sunday in Nashville Greeneville runner Trey Bailey turned in two top-10 performances at the the Tennessee State Indoor Track and Field Championships.
In the two mile Bailey set a personal record and finished second in a time of 9:16.63. He trailed only Baylor School’s Marshall McConville who is a Georgetown commit.
In the one mile Bailey finished in eighth place in a time of 4:24.81.
The South Greene boys 4×400 relay team of Case, Greene, Greene and Laycek placed 11th. The same group placed 13th in the 4,000 meters distance medley.
The South Greene girls 4,000 meters distance medley team of Leasure, King, Walters and Metcalf placed 13th.
BASKETBALL
BOYS
Chuckey-Doak 67, University High 64
The Chuckey-Doak boys basketball team went to Johnson City on Saturday and picked up a 67-64 win over University High.
Ryland Grindstaff led the Black Knights with a 34-point night. That included 12 points in the fourth quarter as Chuckey-Doak came from behind to earn the win. Knox McAmis scored 11 points for Chuckey-Doak.
University High got 23 points from Knox Poston and 21 points from Janson West.
South Greene 59, Johnson County 47
GIRLS
Chuckey-Doak 48, University High 34
The Chuckey-Doak girls basketball team picked up a 48-34 win over University High on Saturday.
Chloe Kirkpatrick knocked down four three-pointers and led the Lady Black Knights with 13 points. Jayden Myers scored 12 points and Cristen Bishop added 10.
Emma Linkous scored 15 points for University High.
