Two local athletes brought home medals from the State Decathlon on Thursday at Kirkwood High School in Clarksville.
In the two-day event Greeneville’s Darien Humphries placed fourth in Class AA, and South Greene’s Tripp Neas was seventh in Class A.
Humphries best event was the 100 meter dash where he was second in 11.05 seconds. He was third in the pole vault at 8’6″, triple jump at 41’3″, and 110 meter hurdles at 16.56 seconds.
Humphries finished with 5,075 points. Tayshaun Dye of Millington Central won the event with 5,919 points and Cameron Jones of Fayette Ware was second with 5,184 points.
Neas scored 4,702 points. His best event was the shot put where he was first with a heave of 40’1″. He was fifth in the pole vault and 110 meter hurdles.
South Greene’s Evan Stills placed 10th in the Class A Decathlon. His best event was the 110 hurdles where he was fourth in 17.64 seconds.
Adrian Crawford of Union City was first in Class A with 6,166 points, and Darius Smith of MASE was second with 5,784 points.
In the Class A Pentathlon South Greene’s Alexa Gabbard placed 10th on Wednesday. Her top event was the high jump where she finished in fifth place. Gabbard finished with 2,280 points.
Aziaah Shute of East Nashville won the Class A Pentathlon with 2,952 points. Fiona Eastman of CSAS was second with 2,823 points.
