High school anglers hit the water Saturday morning on Old Hickory Lake for the second stop of the Tennessee Bass Nation High School/Youth Statewide Open Trail Series.
Max and Colton Clabough of Loudon High School claimed top honors, reeling in five fish with a total weight of 15.3 pounds. The duo also caught the day’s biggest fish, which tipped the scales at 5.12 pounds.
South Greene’s Noah Wright and Shane Williams finished 78th after landing one fish weighing 2.02 pounds. Chuckey-Doak’s Brodie and Kolbie Gibson placed 95th with a single fish weighing 1.44 pounds. Fellow Black Knights Noah and Logan Mentz were set to compete but were unable to fish due to mechanical issues.
After two events, South Fulton’s Evan McCloud and Brody Smith, along with Mt. Pleasant’s DJ Johnson and Colton Butler, sit atop the overall standings with 370 points. Wright and Williams have earned 251 points (52nd), the Gibsons 183 points (58th), and the Mentz 50 points (151st).
The next stop on the statewide trail is set for March 28 at Dale Hollow Lake, while the East Tennessee Series kicks off November 15 at Douglas Lake.
