MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — The South Greene Lady Rebels showcased their athletic prowess at the TSSAA State Pentathlon, with seniors Ava Clark and Natalie Freise earning All-State honors, while sophomore Alexa Gabbard finished a commendable 10th place.
Clark, who recently signed with Carson-Newman, secured a 5th place finish, amassing a total of 2,322 points. Her performance was highlighted by a strong showing in the high jump, where she tied for second place with a height of 1.42 meters, earning 534 points. She also excelled in the 800 meters, finishing fourth with a time of 2:45.32 for 513 points.
Freise finished 7th overall with 2,101 points. She dominated the 800 meters, clinching first place with an impressive time of 2:38.18, which garnered her 594 points. Friese also placed well in the long jump, achieving seventh place with a mark of 4.48 meters, earning 423 points.
Gabbard, a sophomore, completed the event in 10th place with 1,887 points. Her best event was the high jump, where she tied for second place at 1.42 meters, earning 534 points. Despite a challenging 800 meters, Gabbard showed promise and potential for future competitions.
