The Lady Trojans trailed by five after the first, but held a three-point lead at halftime. West distanced themselves in the third quarter and held on to win in the fourth.

Cocke County 59, Spring Valley, WV 53

Cocke County won a close battle by defeating Spring Valley on the final day of the Ladies’ Classic.

The margin never grew to more than eight as Spring Valley wouldn’t let Cocke County put them away. The first or two records broken on Wednesday occurred in this contest. Spring Valley’s Sophi Hutchinson needed three steals to break the record for most steals in a single Ladies’ Classic and finished with five to set the new record with 29 steals in a tournament.

Blakelyn Clevenger led the Lady Red with 20 points. Karmine Carmichael delivered another double-double with 12 points and 16 rebounds. Brooklyn Ellis led Spring Valley with 24 points. Sophi Hutchinson had 14 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 5 steals.

Cocke County finished in sixth place with a 4-1 record. Spring Valley finished 2-2 in the Classic.

Farmington, AR 84, Greeneville 67

Sophomore Easton McCollough set a new tournament record for most points scored in a single tournament. McCollough needed 35 points to break the record and she delivered 38 points on Wednesday. The new record stands at 143 points. The tournament record for three-pointers made was in jeopardy after a 5-for-5 start in the first half, but McCollough went 0-for-5 in the second half and she came one three-pointer shy of tying the record. She finished shooting 22-for-41 (53.5%) from three-point land.

Boone bounced back from Tuesday‘s semifinal loss and handed Grace Christian their second-straight loss with a 70-56 win.

Andrea Flores led the way with 25 points to lead all scorers. Flores grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds for a double-double. Laney Britton scored 23 points for Boone. Abby Roberts scored 13 to lead Grace Christian.

Boone’s Aaliyah Story finished top 5 in most rebounds and most blocks in a single Ladies’ Classic. Story’s 49 rebounds and 19 blocks were good for 5th place in both categories.

Boone took home third place and finished 3-1. Grace Christian finished fourth in the Classic with a 3-2 record.

Upperman 59, Bearden 50

Upperman defeated Bearden, 59-50, to win the 36th Annual Andrew Johnson Bank Ladies’ Classic.

Bearden controlled the first half and led by four at the half, but it was Upperman who came out victorious in the end. The Lady Bees from Baxter outscored the Lady Bulldogs 17-5 in the third quarter and made it difficult for Bearden to complete a comeback. Shots weren’t falling and Upperman took advantage and kept the momentum on their side of the floor.

Missouri commit Natalya Hodge was seeking Ladies’ Classic history in multiple categories. Hodge and McCollough were on a chase for most points in a single tournament. McCollough broke the record and Hodge needed 40 points to get there but came up short and settled for a tie for fourth most points with 121. Hodge averaged 30.3 points per game. Hodge finished second in most field goals attempted with 102 this year. She set the record last year with 110.
