After a busy week on the diamond in Greene County there were plenty of standout performances to choose from, but Hannah Brooks stood out above all others and has been selected as the Greene Sports Zone Player of The Week.
Brooks helped the North Greene softball team to a 6-0-1 record during the week that included a 3-0-1 record in the Tiny Day-Red Edmonds Memorial Tournament where the Lady Huskies advanced to the championship bracket.
Brooks made six appearances in the circle, throwing a combined 22 innings with 44 strikeouts, five walks and 25 hits allowed. She earned three wins and two saves.
Brooks started the week by finishing a suspended game with South Greene and striking out seven batters in 3 2/3 innings for an 8-0 win. Against Hancock County on Tuesday she threw four shutout innings with eight strikeouts and two hits allowed. Against Daniel Boone on Thursday she went eight innings with nine strikeouts, but had to settle for a 2-2 tie. She came back against Jefferson County on Saturday and struck out six as the Lady Huskies earned a 5-3 win.
At the plate Brooks had three doubles and four RBIs during the week.
