Local Athletes Show Well At Twin Lakes Track Meet

Cherokee took home both the boys and girls team titles on Tuesday at the Twin Lakes Conference Track Meet at Greeneville Middle, but several local athletes had strong showings ahead of the postseason.

The Greeneville boys finished in second place with 154.5 points to Cherokee’s 196.

In the 1,600 meters Trey Bailey ran away from everyone and placed first in 4:41.51. That was 15 seconds ahead of second place.

Isaac Gibson won the 800 meters in 2:04.11. Grant Tunnell was second in the 3,200 meters in 10:42.25 and Riley DiSalvo was fifth in both the 1,600 and 3,200.

Greeneville had a strong showing in the relays as well. The 4X100 team of Zy Neal, Quinn Write, Jaylyn Kerwin and JuJu Mann won in 44.61.

The 4X400 team of Write, Jesse Reneau, Bailey and Gibson won in 3:39.35, and the 4X800 team of Bailey, Tunnell, Reneau and Gibson won in 8:46.90.

Neal placed fifth in the 100 meters and Write was fifth in the 400 meters.

In the 110 meter hurdles Mason Marion was first in 15.85 seconds. Dion Phipps was fourth in the 300 meter hurdles.

In the long jump Greeneville had a strong showing. Kerwin was second with a leap of 21’5”. Lucrease Parkey was third in 21’4”, and Neal was fourth in 21’3.5”

Parkey won the triple with a leap of 42’6.5”, almost two feet better than second place.

In the pole vault DiSalvo was third at 9’6”.

Jayden Francisco was fifth in the discus and Dillon Hartman was fourth in the shot put.

For the South Greene boys Noah Case led the way with a first-place finish in the 3,200 meters at 10:30.62.

Tripp Neas won the shot put at 44’3”.

In the 110 meter hurdles Ben Ballast was second at 16.53 seconds and Evan Stills was third at 16.86 seconds.

The 4X100 relay team of Ballast, Stills, Neas and Simon Burns were second in 46.14 seconds.

The 4X800 relay team Case, Colton Green, Jayden Laycek and Gabriel McKinney placed third in 9:02.30.

The Rebels placed fourth in 4X400 relay.

Green placed second in the pole vault at 11’0”. In the high jump Stills placed fourth.

For Chuckey-Doak Landon Brown had a good evening. He was second in the 100 meters in 11.32 seconds, second in the 200 meters in 22.72 seconds and was third in the 300 meter hurdles at 44.99 seconds.

Blake Lippard was fourth in the 200 meters at 24.84 seconds.

Parker McMurry was second in the discus at 127’8”. Elijah Barker placed fourth in the pole vault at 9’0”.

 

North Greene’s Matthew Boyd placed second in the high jump at 5’10”, and fifth in the long jump at 21”2”.

Thomas Darnell was third in the high jump at 5’6”.

In the girls competition the South Greene girls placed second as team with 144 points to Cherokee’s 239.

Alexa Gabbard was the top Lady Rebel, placing first in the long jump at 15’10.75” and first in the triple jump at 33’5.5”.

The Lady Rebels’ team of Alexa Gabbard, Sienna Gabbard, Ella Bailey and Riley Walters were first in the 4X100 relay at 54.45.

Chelsea Metcalf was second in the 3,200 meters at 13:27.63, and fifth in the 1,600.

Helen King was fourth in the 100 meter hurdles, and fifth in the 300 meter hurdles. Ava Leasure was third in the 800 meters at 2:40.45.

South Greene was second in the 4X200 relay and second in the 4X800 relay.

In the high jump Riley Walters was second and Ella Bailey was fourth.

In the pole vault Sienna Gabbard was second and Miranda Metcalf was third, both clearing 6’6”.

Myesha Lewis was third in the shot put at 28’10” and Madison Darnell was fourth in the discus at 86’7”.

For the Greeneville girls Leigha Deangelis was third in the 400 meters at 1:09.01.

Ashlynn Ranly was fourth in the 1,600 and Willow Aiken was fifth in the 800 meters.

Chuckey-Doak’s Sarah Yates was first in the 100 meter hurdles at 20.16 seconds. She was second in the 300 meter hurdles at 55.96 seconds, and was third in the high jump.

Carlene Bishop placed second in the 100 meters at 13.33 seconds.

For North Greene Natalie Foshie was second in the discus in 109’7”.

Emily Crisp was second in the 100 meter hurdles at 21.11 seconds.
