Former Greeneville Greene Devil guard and Tennessee Volunteer Ja’Kobi Gillespie has been selected 42nd overall to the San Antonio Spurs in the 2nd round of the 2026 NBA Draft.
Gillespie, a former Mr. Basketball winner, 2x State Champion, and 2x All-State selection, will join a San Antonio squad fresh off an NBA Finals appearance.
Ja’Kobi attended Belmont University for two seasons after his standout career at Greeneville. He transferred to the University of Maryland for one season before transferring to the University of Tennessee for his senior season where he was named Second-Team All-SEC by the Associated Press and named SEC Newcomer of the Year.
