The Tennessee Sports Writers Association released its All-State soccer teams on Thursday and Greeneville senior Samuel Gourley was among those recognized as being among the best in the state.
Gourley led the Greene Devils back to the Class AA state tournament in his senior season after they missed out for the first time in 13 tries the year prior. He was named All-District 2-AA and All-Region 1-AA.
Gourley led Greeneville in scoring with 18 goals on the year. He distributed 15 assists from the middle of the formation where he was largely responsible for getting Greeneville’s offense moving in the right direction. For that he was named to the highly selective Class AA All-State team.
