TEMPE, Ariz. — The Tusculum University men’s and women’s tennis teams earned academic honors for the 2025-26 season from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
Both the Pioneer men and women received All-Academic Team status, while the two teams combined for to have 11 Scholar-Athlete honorees. Players must have a 3.5 grade-point average for the current academic year to be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, while teams must have a combined GPA of 3.2 or above to receive All-Academic Team honors.
In Division II men’s tennis, a total of 70 teams received All-Academic status with 548 student-athletes claiming Scholar-Athlete accolades. For the women, in Division II there were 95 All-Academic teams and 649 Scholar-Athletes.
For the Tusculum men, ITA Scholar-Athletes for 2025-26 are seniors Sarthak Sharma, Rens Verhaar and Will Gee, juniors Romain Payan and Angus Howard, sophomores Angelos Avgeris and Eli England, and freshman Andrei Negoita.
The Tusculum women that were honored as ITA Scholar-Athletes are senior Ylva Frafjord Landa and freshmen Emma Kotzmannova and Sophia Amyes.
The Pioneer men’s tennis team boasted a cumulative grade-point average of 3.40 during the 2025-26 academic year, with the women’s tennis team earned a GPA of 3.33 as a group.
