GIRLS: Chuckey Doak 39 – South Greene 21
The opening quarter looked as if Chuckey Doak might jump out to a sizable lead as Tatum Southerland dropped in six early points. However, a buzzer-beater by Raelyn Hensley cut the deficit to 10-8 at the end of the first period.
The Lady Knights added nine points in the second quarter while holding the Lady Rebels to five, extending their advantage to 19-13 at the half.

Both teams traded baskets throughout the final period, with the Lady Knights holding a slight 7-5 advantage to close out the 39-21 victory.
Chuckey Doak head coach Luke Myers was pleased with his team’s effort in the season opener.
“I look for three things: Hustle, Effort, and Energy. I told them that they were going to make some mistakes, but I was pleased with their overall performance. South Greene and Chuckey Doak always bring the energy, especially in the first game, and it was good to get that first win under our belt.”
Miana Hensley paced the Lady Knights with a game-high 16 points, followed by Southerland with 10 and Josey Holt with six. Raelyn Hensley was the lone Lady Rebel to reach double figures, finishing with 13.

Both teams had opportunities to score in the second quarter, but neither could find much success as it seemed someone had placed a lid on both baskets. The only field goal of the period came with 45 seconds remaining when Bryson Scott broke free for a layup, giving South Greene a 15-6 lead heading into the locker room.
The Rebels turned up the defensive intensity to open the second half, capitalizing on turnovers while also taking advantage of their inside game. South Greene outscored the Knights 27-14 over the final two quarters to pull away for the 42-20 victory.
“I’m glad to get that first W under our belt,” stressed South Greene head coach Mikey Cox. “Chuckey Doak has a good young team, and we almost shot ourselves right out of it, playing against their zone. Once we started getting the ball inside, we were able to start doing what we were supposed to do, and that’s score baskets. Anytime we get to play someone in the county, it’s big, and to come away with the win, it’s good.”
Kaden Reaves and Avan Park each scored six of their game-high 10 points in the second half to lead the Rebels. Dyer added nine points.
Combs and Preston Baker paced Chuckey Doak with six points apiece.
