Greeneville hosted Claiborne Tuesday evening for senior night and, for the second consecutive night, they pushed 13 runs across the plate and collected the conference win running their record to 16-10.

Martin Hayes, a senior who suffered an injury early in the season, got the start on the bump for Greeneville.  He delivered the first pitch of the game and then gave way to fellow senior, Corbin Cannon, who would strike out the side in the first after surrendering a double.

The Devils would strike in the bottom of the first as Colton Richards would reach on an infield single before stealing second.  Carson Quillen would step to the plate and collect his first of three hits on the day to drive in the game’s first run of the game.  He would steal second, advance to third on a Kane Ricker fly-out, and score on a Will Harmon RBI single, giving Greeneville the 2-0 lead.  Two more free passes would load the bases, but no more damage would take place.

Cannon would lead off the second with a double and following a hit-by-pitch and a base on balls, the Devils would look like they were in business to blow the game open.  However they were not able to push any runs across the plate and the score would remain 2-0.

After neither team was able to manufacture any runs in the next inning and a half, Greeneville would push two more across in the bottom of the 4th as Maddox Bishop, who reached on an error, and Quillen, who reached on a bloop single, both scored on wild pitches, making the score 4-0.

Cannon, who went 5.2 innings in relief, had 11 strikeouts and allowed only 2 hits on the day, was holding the Bulldogs at bay, but ran into trouble in the top of the 6th.  Some errors and free passes allowed Claiborne to score 4 runs and tie the game up at 4-4.  Greeneville, however, would counter by scoring 9 times in the bottom of the bottom of the 6th, on 5 hits, to lead 13-4.

Claiborne would not go away quietly.  In the 7th, they would get back to back singles, followed by a couple of walks, two Devil miscues, and the scoreboard would read 13-6,  Greeneville, pitching and defense would end up closing the door and pick up the conference victory.  Carson Norris, would pick up the win in relief.

The Greene Devils will host Grainger on Thursday for a conference double-header.  First pitch is set for 5:00.
