Final approval of the construction of a Greene County School System track and field facility and tennis court upgrades is headed to the full County Commission for consideration later this month, following approval of the plans by the Budget and Finance Committee on Wednesday.
The new track and field facility, which the County School System has never had, will be located at Doak Elementary School. It will be used for all the county track teams as well as the community, and possibly nearby Tusculum University , which currently uses the Greeneville Middle School track.
The tennis projects are renovations of the courts at Chuckey Doak, South Greene and North Greene. West Greene High School uses tennis courts owned by the Town of Mosheim and located near West Greene Middle School.
The County Board of Education approved the plans last month, passing them along to the Budget and Finance Committee for their consideration yesterday. The full County Commission is expected to take formal action on the proposal during its January 21st meeting
