INDIANAPOLIS — Tusculum University junior Reagan Padilla has been named an individual competitor for the 2025 NCAA Division II South Region Women’s Golf Championship. The three-day, 54-hole tournament will be held May 5-7 at the Chattahoochee Golf Club in Gainesville, Georgia.
The top four teams along with the top two individuals not on an advancing team will move onto the NCAA II National Championship, which will be conducted May 13-17 at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada.
Padilla becomes the fourth Tusculum women’s golfer to qualify as regional tournament participant and the first since 2017. She joins former Pioneers: Rachel McFarland (2003), Emee Herbert (2013) and Ciara Rattana (2017). McFarland is the lone TU representative to advance to the NCAA National Championship (2003).
The Gallatin, Tennessee native finished fourth at the South Atlantic Conference Championship and earned a spot on the SAC All-Tournament Team for second straight season. She finished with an even-par total 144 including a career-low 71 in the final round.
Her 75.25 stroke average this season is currently a new program single-season record, just ahead of the mark she carded last year (75.40). This year, she has finished in the top-20 in all eight of her events including six top-10 finishes and twice in the top-five. She finished runner-up at last month’s Emmanuel Spring Invitational and sixth at the Agnes McAmis Memorial.
In her 28 career events, Padilla has finished in the top-five on 11 occasions which is the fourth-most in school history. Her performance at the SAC Championship was also her 17th career top-10 finish tying her for fourth with former All-SAC performer Jillian Corum (2009-2013). She has finished in the top-20 in her last 20 consecutive events and 22nd of her career (T6th in TU history). Her career scoring average of 76.40, which is the second-lowest by a Pioneer with only Jennifer Keim’s (2019-2021) 75.93 average being better.
The 18 teams qualifying for the NCAA II South Regional includes: Anderson, Wingate, Flagler, Flynn, Nova Southeastern, Rollins, Lee, North Georgia, Tampa, Saint Leo, Lander, Palm Beach Atlantic, Florida Southern, West Florida, Lincoln Memorial, Barry, Carson-Newman at Erskine.
Joining Padilla in the group of six individual participants includes: Sandra Eriksson (Eckerd), Loa Johannsson (Embry-Riddle), Pennie Osterberg (Limestone), Melissa Ball (Eckerd) and Claudia Hastings (Limestone).
