Greeneville 6 – Pulaski 5
Greeneville took a 5-2 lead into the top of the 7th inning Sunday afternoon, but Pulaski rallied for three runs to tie the game at 5-5, setting the stage for a dramatic finish.
Ezra McNaughton led off the bottom of the 7th with a double to the deepest part of the park and was replaced by pinch runner Mycah Jordan. Dylan Jordan was intentionally walked, and Mycah Jordan promptly stole third. Cameron Kim was also intentionally walked to load the bases.
With the game on the line, Layne Akers delivered, driving the first pitch he saw over the right fielder’s head for a walk-off RBI, sealing a 6-5 victory for the Flyboys.
McNaughton paced Greeneville’s 11-hit performance, going 3-for-4 with two singles and a double. Tyler Inge, Jace Patton, and Akers each added a pair of singles.
Freddy Beruvides got the start and kept the River Turtles in check over five strong innings, striking out eight, walking three, and allowing just two runs on five hits. Keenan Mork came on to throw the seventh inning for the win.
Following a league-wide off day, Greeneville returns to action Tuesday night with a doubleheader against Kingsport at Pioneer Park. First pitch is set for 5:30 p.m., and it will be Tusculum University Alumni Night, with gates opening at 4:30.
