The Greene County Commission and Greene County Mayor Kevin Morrison honored the Greeneville High School Baseball team on Monday at its meeting.
The Greene Devils won the program’s third state championship in May by beating Munford 10-0 in the Class 3A state championship game.
During the 2025 season the Greene Devils went 36-9, tying a school record for wins in a season. They won the District 2-3A championship and Region 1-3A Championship.
The mayor’s proclamation reads as follows –
“Whereas the Greeneville High Greene Devils baseball team has exemplified exceptional skill, sportsmanship, and perseverance throughout their season, representing Greeneville , Tennessee and Greene County with honor both on and off the field.
And whereas the Greene Devils legacy shines brightly, marked by 15 district championships, five regional championships, and five appearances at the Tennessee State Tournament in 2016, 2018, 2023, 24, and 25. Demonstrating sustained excellence across multiple seasons, and whereas the teams crowning achievements include being crowned in 2018 AA State Champions and securing Class 3A state titles in the 2023 and 2025 season, setting a golden standard for high school baseball in Tennessee and beyond.
And whereas these young athletes guided by a devoted, visionary coaching staff, these athletes have forged a season of grit and glory who demonstrated tireless dedication to their craft, holding steadfast through grueling practices, challenging competitions, and against formidable competitors.
And whereas the unwavering support of parents, faculty, classmates, and loyal fans has fueled their drive, creating a legacy that unites Greeneville behind their legendary green and white, cheering not just for runs scored and skills displayed, but the character that has shown.
And whereas the Greene Devils baseball team embodies the heart and soul of Greeneville and Greene County, resilient, united, and driven by pride, leaving a legacy that echoes through every base stolen, every out made, every run swatted, and every title earned.
And whereas the accomplishments of the Greene Devils baseball team stands as an ever brilliant example, of what can be achieved when determination meets opportunity, and when talent is matched by humility, sportsmanship, and love for the game .
Now, therefore, I Kevin C. Morrison , Mayor of Greene County, Tennessee, and the 21 members of the Greene County legislative body, along with the proud citizens of Greene County, do hereby proclaim the highest congratulations of honor and gratitude to the Greene Devil baseball team.
And we urge all citizens to recognize and celebrate this great achievement of these outstanding student athletes whose commitment to excellence continues to inspire future generations.
And let it be known that by this proclamation is a tribute to their courage, camaraderie and the legacy they have built not only as champions of the game, but as champions of character and their community.
