LOS ANGELES, Calif. – No. 5/6 Tennessee soccer secured its second top-five win and shutout of 2025 in just its third match of the season, taking down No. 4 UCLA, 1-0, on the road.
The Lady Vols’ (3-0) triumphs over North Carolina and UCLA (1-1) mark the first back-to-back shutout victories over top-five opponents in program history. Additionally, head coach Joe Kirt now has three career top-five wins.
Shae O’Rourke once again came up big for the Big Orange and carried her momentum into game three for the Lady Vols, knocking in her fourth score of the season to secure the win. O’Rourke now has a pair of game-winners.
Cayden Norris made the start in goal and registered a five-save performance for the second time this season. Additionally, the sophomore now has two clean sheets on the year and four in her career.
The match was scoreless until the 25th minute when Ally Brown dished it to Sydney Miller. Miller then passed it into O’Rourke who was perfectly positioned just left of the net to secure the score.
UCLA then created a pair of chances before the break and then three more in the second half, but the Lady Vols’ defense held on for a resilient win.
The Bruins finished with 17 shots, with five coming on goal. UCLA midfielder Oruha Hayashi paced their team with four shots as Bella Winn and Meila Brewer added two apiece.
UP NEXT: The Lady Vols will continue their four-game away stand with another west coast contest at LMU at 4 p.m. ET Saturday.
