Greeneville’s Trey Bailey ran away from the field on Saturday morning at the South Holston Dam in Bristol in the Run for the Hills cross country race.
Bailey won his second race in the first week of the season season, running the five kilometer course in 16:22.04. That was 43 seconds ahead of Volunteer’s Kevin McCurry in second place.
Greeneville’s Isaac Gibson also cracked the top 10 with a time of 18:02.73, good enough for 10th place. Greeneville’s Grant Tunnell was 24th, Cole Englehardt 45th and RIley Disilvo 64th. As a team Greeneville was fifth with 149 points.
Daniel Boone won the boys race with 86 points, and Dobyns-Bennett was second with 88.
South Greene came in 14th place as team with 336 points. Jayden Laycek led the Rebels with a 52nd place finish in 20:31.17. Noah Case was close behind in 53rd place, Andrew Lacy was 67th, Gabriel McKinney 90th and Aiden Hawk 94th.
West Greene’s Julian Greenlee was 56th in 20:38.61.
In the girls race Greeneville’s Ashlynn Ranly was 35th in 25:41.1. Susan Mullhollen was 47th, Aley White 53rd and Vera McKinney 81st.
For South Greene Chelsea Metcalf led the way in 42nd place with a time of 26:32.50. Ava Leasure was 64th and Riley Walters 76th.
For West Greene Clair Crews was 72nd, Ariel Piatt 79th, Prisila Vance 82nd and Brooklyn Hyatt 83rd.
Arvella Nave of Elizabethton was the girls champion in a time of 20:46.30.
Dobyns-Bennett was the girls team champion with 54 points.
