OOLTEWAH, Tenn. – Tennessee sophomore golfer Jackson Herrington is currently tied for the individual lead at the Invitational at The Honors Course after a 36-hole score of 6-under as the Tennessee men’s golf team sits in sixth place.
Herrington came out the gates hot in round one, firing a 7-under 65. That round featured eight birdies and a bogey-free back nine. The Dickson, Tennessee, native’s second round was a 1-over 73. Herrington sits tied with his former high school teammate and current Ole Miss golfer Cameron Tankersley ahead of the final round.
The Vols are 3-over through two rounds as a team.
Josh Hill provided the Big Orange with a pair of counting rounds Monday and is tied for 17th at even-par. Hill went 1-under in his opening round and followed it up with a 1-over 73.
Freshman Chase Kyes, who is competing individually, is tied for 23rd at 1-over in total. Kyes opened the event with a 2-under 70 and carded a 75 in the second round.
Lance Simpson fired a 1-under 71 in the first round of the day and then shot a 76 in his second 18 holes. Simpson is 3-over and tied for 32nd ahead of day two.
Bruce Murphy recorded a pair of 75s and is tied for 43rd.
The final member of UT’s lineup, Reed Lotter, is tied for 65th.
