Greeneville’s Parks and Recreation Department, in conjunction with Tusculum University will be hosting the Greeneville Beach Bash this weekend at the beach complex located between Hal Henard Elementary School and Greeneville Elementary School.

Tusculum, along with Erskine, Catawba, Carson Newman, and Eastern Kentucky will all be competing in doubles action throughout the three day period.

Action began on Friday afternoon and will start up again on Saturday morning at 9 am and then again at 10 am on Sunday.

Tim Bowman, who is the athletic director for the Greeneville Parks and Recreation Department, is glad to be working with Tusculum to bring these teams to our community.  “Each team will bring approximately 20 people to participate in this event and the will have a direct impact on our community.” “We hope that this event will lead to future events that will help promote beach volleyball and lead to potential national qualifying events in the future.”

Tusculum University’s Beach Volleyball coach, Emily Kalmink, said she hopes this event will give her team some game type experience as they prepare for their upcoming season. “We have a fairly young team” explained Kalmink. “We want to compete during these three days so our girls can have some live action as we live towards January.”

So, we encourage all of Greeneville/Greene County to come out and catch some volleyball action while also enjoying the beautiful east Tennessee weather. Best of all…admission is FREE.
