SALISBURY, N.C. — Eighth-ranked Catawba College remained unbeaten Saturday night with a 6-1 victory over Tusculum University in South Atlantic Conference women’s soccer action.

Morgan Delair scored two goals and had an assist for the Catawba Indians (9-0-2, 5-0-1 SAC), who outshot the Pioneers (4-5-2, 2-2-1 SAC) by a 31-8 margin. Bree Ehmer, Savannah Singh, Kylie Morin and Ryen Gibbs also scored goals for the Indians, while Carme Escamilla scored in the 67th minute for the Pioneers.

Delair scored in the 14th and 30th minute and Ehmer converted a penalty kick in the 24th minute to send Catawba to a 3-0 lead at halftime. After goals from Singh in the 51st minute and Morin in the 55th minute stretched the Indians’ lead to 5-0, the Pioneers got on the board at exactly 67 minutes when Escamilla put home the rebound of a shot from Wilma Axelsson for her third goal of the season.

Catawba was awarded a second penalty kick in the 78th minute, but Tusculum keeper Noemie Tartrou stopped the attempt from Natalie Peterson and smothered the follow-up shot for the hat trick by Delair. Tartrou finished with a season-high 15 saves for the Pioneers, two shy of her career high of 17 set last season against Lenoir-Rhyne.

Jenni Dahne made five saves in the first 75 minutes for the Indians, with Lauren Zitt adding one stop in the final 15 minutes in goal. Catawba had a 10-5 edge in corner kicks over Tusculum and was called for 11 fouls to seven for the Pioneers.

Tusculum is home to face Emory & Henry in a SAC match on Wednesday, Oct. 15 at 5 p.m. at Pioneer Field. The Wasps are 6-2-2 overall and 1-2-2 in conference play, with their last outing a 3-1 non-conference victory over Virginia State on Wednesday.
