ROCK HILL, S.C. — Tusculum University junior Lansford Cunningham has been named the South Atlantic Conference WePlayed Sports Men’s Field Athlete of the Week for the week ending January 25, the SAC office announced Tuesday.
Cunningham broke his own school record and finished second overall in the long jump at the Hokie Invitational on Friday. The Montego Bay, Jamaica native was the top seed in preliminaries with a mark of 7.32 meters, then delivered a jump of 7.42 meters (24 feet, 4 1/4 inches) which broke his school record of 7.35 meters set January 10.
Cunningham is currently ranked fifth in Division II in the long jump, and has the top mark in the SAC by more than a foot over the second-ranked jumper in the conference.
The Pioneers will compete in the Tryon College Banked Invitational on Friday, January 30 at the Tryon International Indoor Complex in Mill Spring, North Carolina.
