North Greene 6, Gatlinburg-Pittman 2
The North Greene baseball opened its season on Monday with a 6-2 win over Gatlinburg-Pittman.
On the mound Aidan Halley earned the win in a complete-game effort. He struck out five, walked none and scattered eight hits in seven innings.
At the plate North Greene earned four hits and worked nine walks. Tyler Britton went 1-for-2 with a double and three RBIs. Christian Cogdill, Jaiden Bailey and Parker Collins each had a single.
Unicoi County 14, West Greene 1
The West Greene baseball team fell to Unicoi County on Monday, 14-1.
Jhonen Bath, Carter Stills, Eli Brown and Christian each had a single for the Buffaloes to account for their four hits.
On the mound Ethan Carpenter took the loss. In 2.1 innings he struck out two, walked three and allowed five hits.
Greeneville 10, Grainger 0
The Greeneville baseball team started District 2-3A play on Monday with a 10-0 win over Grainger.
Will Harmon had a big on the mound and at the plate for the Greene Devils. He earned the win by striking out eight, walking none and allowing three hits in five innings.
At the plate he had a home run and four RBIs.
Tegan Begley went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Grayson Crosby was 1-for-1 with a double, two walks and two runs scored. Maddox Bishop had a double and three RBIs, and Colton Smith had a double.
Chuckey-Doak 18, South Greene 3
The Chuckey-Doak baseball team picked up an 18-3 win over South Greene on Monday in District 1-2A play.
Kiptyn Ball led the Black Knights’ 14-hit attack by going 4-for-4 with four RBIs and a double.
Braxton Lowe went 2-for-2 with three RBIs and three runs scored for Chuckey-Doak. Gavin Crum was 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Lynkin Cutshaw was 2-for-3 and Colton Seay had a double with two RBIs.
For South Greene Charlie Lane went 2-for-3.
Crum was credited with the win. In two innings he struck out three, walked none and allowed one hit.
Colton Fillers took the loss for South Greene. In three innings he struck out two, walked five and allowed five hits.
SOFTBALL
Science Hill 14, Greeneville 4
The Greeneville softball team fell to Science Hill 14-4 on Monday evening.
The Lady Greene Devils earned seven hits in the loss. Gabby Atchison went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Brynlee Jones was 2-for-3, and Kaley Garland, Brooke Parsley, and Kinslee Lewandowski each had a single.
University High 10, West Greene 5
The West Greene softball team fell to University High 10-5 on Monday evening.
The Lady Buffaloes produced nine hits in the loss. Alexis Cutshall was 3-for-4 with a double. Addison Peters went 2-for-3 with a triple. Amanda Owens and Aubree Everett each had a double.
Abby Cluesman took the loss. In 3.2 innings she struck out five, walked four and allowed five hits.
BASKETBALL
Fulton 66, Greeneville 52
The Greeneville basketball team saw its season come to an end on Monday night in the Class 3A State Sectionals with a 66-52 loss to Fulton.
The Greene Devils finished the year with a 9-22 record.
Zy Neal led the Greene Devils in scoring with13 points, Taren Claridy had 11 and Braylen Kidwell 10.
Nick Steen led the Falcons with 30 points.
