ROCK HILL, S.C. — Tusculum University outfielder Landon Dockery has been named the WePlayed Sports South Atlantic Conference Baseball Player of the Week.
Dockery, a 6-0, 190-pound sophomore from Maryville, Tennessee, went 10-for-19 at the plate (.526) and was a perfect 5-of-5 in stolen bases to lead the Pioneers to a 4-0 record last week. He scored four runs and drove in six RBI to lead a Tusculum offense that batted .432 on the week, which was the fifth-best average in NCAA Division II.
Dockery opened the week going 2-for-5 in Tusculum’s 11-8 home win over King University. He batted 8-for-14 (.571) in TU’s three-game series sweep at Emory & Henry. He went 6-for-8 in Friday’s doubleheader sweep which included his second homer of the season. He closed out the week posting two more hits and three RBI in a 20-8 win over the Wasps.
Dockery is riding a seven-game hitting streak dating back to Feb. 27. In his 17 outings, he is batting .403 with 12 RBI and 13 runs scored.
Following Tuesday’s road game at King, the Pioneers return home this weekend to host Newberry College for a South Atlantic Conference series beginning with Friday’s 6 p.m. opener at Eastman Credit Union Field & Pioneer Park.
