GREENEVILLE, Tenn. — Chelsey Stonesifer has been named the South Atlantic Conference WePlayed Sports and Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA) Pitcher of the Week after her incredible performance in the circle last week. This is her fourth career conference honor (two as a Pioneer) and first at the state level.
In her three appearances on the week, the Littlestown, Pennsylvania native recorded three results. Against Lock Haven, Stonesifer pitched a complete game in an extra-inning affair, tossing 89 pitches across eight frames. She allowed four hits and one walk with five strikeouts in the shutout. Stonesifer also pitched the final inning of the second game versus the Bald Eagles. She allowed two hits but struck out two to earn her second save of the season. In the opener against Bluefield State. Stonesifer pitched a seven-inning complete game, relenting one run on eight hits with three walks and seven strikeouts. On the week, she averaged a .44 ERA with 6.13 strikeouts per seven innings.
For the season, Stonesifer is eighth in shutouts (3), 13th in saves (2) and 26th in strikeouts (67) across Division II. At the conference level, she is first in saves and shutouts, while sitting second in strikeouts, starts (9), hits allowed per seven innings (4.75), innings pitched (59.0), and appearances (12). Stonesifer is also third in wins (7), fourth in strikeouts per seven innings (7.9) and WHIP (1.05), fifth in complete games (6), and sixth in earned run average (1.78).
