Bluefield 4 – Greeneville 2
After two lopsided results to open the series, Greeneville and Bluefield finally delivered a tightly contested matchup Sunday afternoon to close out their three-game set. The Flyboys held a narrow 2-1 lead heading into the seventh and final inning, but the Ridge Runners rallied for three runs in their final at-bat to secure a 4-2 win and take the series.
Offensively, Greeneville managed five singles—two from TJ Adams and one each from Reid Haire, Tyler Inge, and Dylan Jackson—while also drawing five walks. Despite getting runners on, the Flyboys offense was stalled by a stout Bluefield defense that turned four double plays to limit the damage.
On the mound, starter Matthew Eagen and Freddy Beruvides held Bluefield in check through six innings, allowing just one run on seven hits while combining for eight strikeouts and two walks. Brandon Mork took the loss after surrendering three runs on three hits in the seventh, striking out one and walking one.
After a league-wide off day Monday, Greeneville will head to Elizabethton for a key two-game series against the River Riders, who sit just one game behind the Flyboys and Axmen in the standings.
