Elizabethton 6 – Greeneville 1
Greeneville hosted Elizabethton on Sunday afternoon for the final game of their three-game series, but the Flyboys struggled to find any offensive rhythm. Just one night after clinching the No. 2 seed in the Western Division, Greeneville was held to only two hits and narrowly avoided a shutout, scratching across their lone run in the bottom of the seventh on a wild pitch.
Cameron Kim and Mycah Jordan each singled to account for the Flyboys’ offense. Christian Bonilla got the start on the mound, allowing two runs on four hits over four innings while striking out three and walking two. Matthew Eagen provided 1 2/3 innings of relief, giving up one run on one hit with four strikeouts and one walk.
Greeneville will host Johnson City at Pioneer Park on Tuesday evening before wrapping up the regular season on Wednesday against the Doughboys at TVA Credit Union Ballpark.
The Appalachian League Playoffs begin Thursday night, with higher seeds hosting the opening round. Kingsport will host Greeneville in the Western Division matchup, while Burlington will take on either Bluefield or Pulaski in the East. The winners will advance to the championship game, set for Friday evening in Johnson City.
