Chapel Hill, N.C. – The Appalachian League has named Greeneville Flyboy pitcher Kyle Bade (pronounced Body) as Pitcher of the Week for the period of July 21–30.
The 20-year-old right-hander from Plano, Texas delivered a dominant performance on July 25 against the Bristol State Liners, striking out a season-high nine batters over six scoreless innings. He allowed just four hits and two walks while retiring the first eight hitters he faced. Bade’s 0.00 ERA for the week was tied for the best in the league, and his nine strikeouts ranked tied for fourth.
Bade finished the summer with a 1-1 record and a 3.86 ERA across seven starts for the Flyboys. He struck out 37 batters, tying him for fifth-most in the league. He also got the nod for the West Division Final, where he went 5 2/3 innings, allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out six.
Over two summers in Greeneville, Bade has made 15 appearances (13 starts), logging 73 strikeouts in 65 1/3 innings.
A sophomore at Oklahoma State this past spring, Bade made 10 appearances and is committed to the University of San Diego for the upcoming fall semester.
