Greeneville’s bowling teams traveled to Kingsport Monday afternoon to open the 2026 season against Dobyns Bennett. The Indians, who already had one match under their belts, flexed their muscles and came away with wins in both the boys and girls matches.
BOYS: Dobyns Bennett 21, Greeneville 6
The Indians, coming off a fourth-place finish in last year’s TSSAA State Tournament, jumped out to an early 6-2 lead and never looked back as they pulled away for the 21-6 victory.
Dobyns Bennett rolled a 1,200 in the first game compared to Greeneville’s 1,056. Mossy Killen led the Indians with a 227, followed closely by Grayson Lockhart’s 220 and Ryan Barrett’s 203.
Bronson Brown opened the day with a 217 for Greeneville, while Noah Stahlman added a 204.
Game two saw the Indians pick up another five points while knocking down 1,185 pins. Dallas Dye led the way with a 231, while Killen continued to keep the lanes hot with a 213 and Barrett added a 202.
Brown finished the match with an impressive 267, giving him the ninth-highest game in Greene Devil bowling history, as his team comes in with a 1,04 pinfall.
The two teams then turned their attention to the Baker portion of the match, where they split the final two games. Dobyns Bennett won the first, 188-129, before Greeneville rebounded to take the finale, 125-108.
GIRLS: Dobyns Bennett 22.5, Greeneville 4.5
The Lady Indians, who finished as last year’s TSSAA state runner-up, made quick work of the opening two games, nearly sweeping every available point to take a commanding 14.5-1.5 lead.
Madison Wilson led Dobyns Bennett with games of 205 and 175, while Mackenzie Place finished with a 187 and 175. Greeneville was led by Carly McLeod’s 164 and Lylli Sopha’s 158.
Both teams managed to split the Baker games, with Dobyns Bennett taking the first, 157-103, before Greeneville came back to win the second, 171-129.
Greeneville will host Carter Tuesday afternoon at The Alley in a non-conference matchup before returning to district play Wednesday against Chuckey Doak.
