The Chuckey-Doak soccer team traveled to Kingston on Thursday night for the Region 1-A championship game, but after battling hard for 80 minutes the Lady Black Knights fell 3-2.
The Lady Black Knights struck first in the ninth minute when Aliah Campbell headed in a corner kick from Hailey Williamson.
The lead was short lived however, with Kingston answering in the 14th and 16th minute with goals by Maddie Bailey. The half ended with Kingston holding a 2-1 lead.
Chuckey Doak came out of halftime with the momentum that was constant throughout the half until a foul right outside of the 18-yard box resulted in a goal for Kingston. Emery Conway rocketed in a long shot to the perfect spot which made the lead 3-1.
Chuckey-Doak answered with a goal set up by Hailey Williamson that allowed Lindsey Rojas to finish the play with a goal in the 72nd minute. This brought the score to 3-2, the final result of the night.
Addy Bradley and Aliah Campbell battled for the 80 minutes in the midfield for the lady black knights while Tavyn Southerland led the defense. Freshman Khloe Henderson came off the bench and provided good minutes for Chuckey-Doak and Layla fox led the offensive attack for 80 minutes.
The Lady Black Knights will travel to Chattanooga School of Arts and Science on Saturday for the Class A State Sectionals. It will be a rematch of last year’s sectional that CSAS won 3-2.
