Bailey Sets GHS Record In Alabama
Greeneville’s Trey Bailey has dominated every course he has stepped on this cross country season, and on Saturday at the Jesse Owens Classic in Oakville Alabama the junior turned that dominance up to another level.
Bailey once again finished in first place, and by running the five kilometer course in a blazing fast 15:01.14 he set a new Greeneville High School record, breaking state champion Wesley Pectol’s best mark.
As a team the Greene Devils placed 12th out of 26 teams from Alabama, Mississippi, Kentucky and Tennessee.
Isaac Gibson finished in 65th place in 16:46.9, Jules Richard was 99th, Grant Tunnell 131st, and Cole Englehardt 171st.
For the Lady Devils Ashlynn Ranly was 122nd in 22:12.71, and Susan Mullhollen was 285th.
Greeneville Middle’s Moore Places 3rd At State
At the TMSAA State Championships on Saturday in Clarksville Greeneville’s Maggie Moore placed third in Class AAA by running the two mile course in 12:09.86.
Sunset Middle School’s Scotlyn Szabo was first and Liberty Bell’s Cate Holden was second.
Greeneville Bethany Knight came in 42nd place. In the Class AAA boys race Greeneville’s Mason Boatman was 25th in 11:30.74 and Hayden Church was 43rd.
In the Class AA boys race West Greene’s Jace Johnson was 52nd in 12:53.35.
South Greene Runs In Bristol
The South Greene boys finished in eighth place as a team on Thursday and the South Greene girls were ninth at the Randy Smith Classic in Bristol, Virginia.
Noah Case led the Rebels with a 30th place finish in 19:26.29. Gabriel McKinney was 59th, Jayden Laycek 83rd, Aiden Hawk 84th and Andrew Lacy 94th.
In the girls race Chelsea Metcalf was 11th for the Lady Rebels in 23:34.59. Ava Leasure was 36th,Riley Walters 72nd, Helen King 92nd, and Barbera Costa-Santos 101st.
