Pioneers Tied For Fourth After Day One Of Savannah Lakes Invitational

McCORMICK, S.C. — The Tusculum University men’s golf team carded a 36-hole score of 584 and are currently tied for fourth place after day one of the Savannah Lakes Men’s Invitational.

The two-day, 54-hole tournament is being hosted by Lander University and held at the par-72, 7,032-yard Monticello Golf Club.

Tusculum opened the day shooting 296 for the first round and followed with an even par 288 to close out Monday’s action. The Pioneers are 16 strokes out of the lead which is currently held by North Georgia who posted an eight-under par 568 (285-283).

TU’s Harrison Price led the Pioneers with his two-under par total 142 which includes a 73 for his first 18 holes and finished the day with three-under par 69. His 142 has him tied for sixth place and is seven shots behind tournament leader Matthew McDougall of Lenoir-Rhyne (70-65=135, -9).

TU’s George Evans is tied for 24^th place with 74-73=147, while Fraser Laird shot 74-75=149 and is tied for 35^th. Buster O’Callaghan is 57^th with 75-78=153, while Joe Stevenson opened with an 84, but shaved 13 strokes off that score with his one-under par 71 in Monday’s second round for his 155 (T69th).

The final 18 holes will be played on Tuesday.
