Player Of The Week May 17 – May 23: Maddox Bishop, Greeneville

The Greeneville baseball team advanced to the Class 3A State Championship game last week, and senior Maddox Bishop took his game to a new level to get the Greene Devils there. For that he has been named the Greene Sports Zone Player of the Week.

For the week Bishop was 7-of-17 at the plate with seven RBIs two home runs, two doubles and five runs scored from his leadoff spot. His biggest moment came in the state semifinals against Alcoa when he launched a three-run home run over the left-field wall to break a 2-2 tie before the Devils won 11-6 to return to state title game. He also worked three walks in that game. In the Greene Devils’ first meeting with Alcoa on Wednesday Bishop sent the very first pitch of the day out of the park to start a 3-for-4 day that included a home run, a double, and four RBIs. The Greene Devils finished the week as the second best team in Class 3A.
