At the outset of the season the Greeneville girls golf team was focused on one thing, bringing home a state championship. Last week in Sevierville the Lady Greene Devils were able to achieve that goal.
The effort was led by junior Brylee Catron and sophomore Kylee Renner as they each shot 150 over the course of two days to finish in a tie for fourth place as individuals at the state tournament. As a team the Lady Devils finished 36 holes tied with Murfreesboro Central at 300 strokes, and went to a playoff to decide the Class A State Championship. Catron and Renner saved some of their best shots for the extra hole with Catron earning a birdie and Renner nailing her par putt to clinch the victory.
Because of their spectacular performances on the state’s biggest stage they are the Greene Sports Zone Players of the Week.
