BASEBALL

Greeneville 3, David Crockett 1

The Greeneville baseball team treated fans to some day baseball on Friday, and both ends the double ended up being good for the Greene Devils.

That started with a 3-1 win over David Crockett.

On the mound Randen Fillers was dominate for the Devils as he tossed a seven-inning complete game in just 96 pitches. Fillers struck out four, walked three and allowed three hits with no earned runs.

At the plate Greeneville earned nine hits. Noah Murray was a perfect 3-for-3 with a triple. Carson Quillen was 2-for-4 with a double, and Kaine Ricker was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs.

Greeneville 11, Gate City, Va. 7

In the second game of the afternoon, Greeneville had to rely on its bats more, but managed to pick up an 11-7 win over Gate City, Va. to improve to 22-5 on the year.

The Devils earned nine hits in the win. Murray was 1-for-2 with a grand slam, four RBIs and two runs scored. Grayson Crosby was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Kobe Mundy was 2-for-4 with a double, and Jack Lister was 2-for-2 with two runs scored.

On the mound Crosby threw the first three innings with one strikeout, two walks and two hits allowed. Jaxon Winter threw 1 2/3 shutout innings. Branton White threw the final 1 2/3 innings with three strikeouts, two walks and one hit allowed.

Carter 4, North Greene 3

The North Greene baseball team let the lead slip away late and fell to Carter 4-3 on Friday.

On the mound Brady Malone threw all seven innings for the Huskies. He struck out six, walked three and allowed seven hits.

At the plate Malone went 2-for-3 with two doubles. Isaac Gaby, Aidan Halley, Owen Pierce, and Jackson Britton all had singles.

An error and two bunts scored two runs for the Hornets in the seventh inning as they swung in front and secured the win.

SOFTBALL

North Greene 18, Chuckey-Doak 8

The North Greene Lady Huskies hosted Chuckey-Doak on Good Friday and left with an 18-8 win in six innings.

Each team committed four errors and delivered double-digit hit numbers, twelve and ten, but it was North Greene who prevailed by capitalizing on the opportunities presented to them.

Heidi Trentham led North Greene by going 3-for-3 with a team-leading four RBIs, three runs, and one walk. Kinlea Estep delivered another home run over the left field wall and went 2-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs. Destiny Fillers provided three RBIs with one swing on a three-RBI double.

Matti Phillips was the winning pitcher and went 2-for-4 with three runs in the batter’s box. She spun 3.2 innings with 9 hits, 3 earned runs, and 5 strikeouts.

Saniah Atchison was a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, an RBI, and led off with a solo home run. Tralyn Southerland also went 2-for-3 with two RBI’s and two runs.

North Greene improved their overall record to 11-5 with the victory. They play at South Greene on Monday at 5:00 next. Chuckey-Doak travels to Johnson County on Monday at 5:00 also.

Weir, WV 6, Greeneville 4

The Greeneville softball team fell to Weir, WV 6-4 on Friday afternoon in Pigeon Forge.

In the contest the Lady Greene Devils earned six hits with Kyla Jobe earning a home run with three RBIs. Brynlee Jones and Kaley Garland each had a double.

In the circle Brynlee Jones threw six innings. She struck out five, walked three and allowed five hits.

Greeneville 10, Salem, OH 4

In its second game of the day Greeneville took down Salem, Ohio 10-4.

The Lady Devils earned 11 hits in the win. Jobe was 2-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs and four runs scored.  Baylee Ramsey was 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Destani Bailey was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Garland was 2-for-5 and Gabby Atchison had a home run with two RBIs.

On the rubber Jamie Jackson threw seven innings with eight strikeouts, four walks and seven hits allowed.
