SOFTBALL

West Greene 13, University High 5

The West Greene softball team earned a 13-5 win over University High on Monday evening.

The Lady Buffaloes pounded out 11 hits in the win. Hayley Arnold led the way by going 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Kaylee Willett went 2-for-5 with three RBIs. Alexis Cutshall was 2-for-4 with a home run, four runs scored and two RBIs. Morgan Brown was 2-for-5 with a double and three runs scored.

In the circle Brown threw seven innings with four strikeouts, three walks and four hits allowed.

North Greene 12, Unaka 2

The North Greene softball team picked up a 12-2 win over Unaka on Monday to stay perfect in District 1-1A play.

At the plate Kinlea Eastep had a big day, going 3-for-3 with a grand slam, a triple, a double and four RBIs. She was a single short of hitting for the cycle.

Josie Graham was 2-for-3 with a double, triple, and two RBIs. Hannah Brooks was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Matti Phillips went 1-for-2 with a triple and three runs scored.

In the circle Brooks threw all five innings with five strikeouts, one walk, and two hits allowed.

BASEBALL

Greeneville 12, Grainger 2

The Greeneville baseball team went to Grainger on Monday night and came back with a 12-2 win that makes the Greene Devils 8-0 in District 2-3A play.

Carson Quillen led Greeneville’s offense by going 4-for-4 with a home run, two doubles and four RBIs.

Carson Norris had a single and two RBIs, and Will Harmon had a triple. Noah Muray had a single and two walks. As a team Greeneville worked 11 walks.

On the mound Randen Fillers earned the win. In six innings he struck out six, walked one, and allowed six hits.

West Greene 10, Hampton 3

The West Greene baseball team went to Hampton on Monday night and earned a 10-3 win to improve to 7-2 in District 1-2A play.

The Buffaloes earned their 10 runs behind six hits, eight walks and five hit batters. Braden McCamey and Conner Campbell each had a double. Jayden Cox had a single, two walks and four RBIs.

On the mound Cox threw five innings with six strikeouts, six walks and two hits allowed. Campbell threw two innings with two strikeouts, no walks and four hits allowed.

University High 16, North Greene 2

University High 13, North Greene 0

The North Greene baseball team dropped both ends of a double header on Monday night, falling 16-2 and 13-0 to University High.

With the wins University High takes control of District 1-1A while North Greene drops into second place.

In game one North Greene managed just three hits with Jake Duffy, Brady Malone and Christian Cogdill all earning singles.

The Buccaneers pounded 10 hits with Cooper Stevenson going 4-for-5.

Aidan Halley took the loss on the rubber. In 4 1/3 innings he struck out two, walked five and allowed six hits.

In game two University’s Copper Stevenson, Cole Stevenson and Reiley Jefferson combined to toss a no-hitter. Cole Stevenson threw a nearly perfect 4 1/3 relief innings with nine strikeouts, no walks and no hits, only disrupted by an error.

Brady Malone took the loss for the Huskies. In 4 2/3 innings he struck out five, walked two and allowed seven hits.
