Greeneville vs Maryville
The Greeneville boys bowling team opened its season on Monday with a 24-3 win over Maryville.
Greeneville got off to a fast 7-1 lead after game one behind Jon Gilbert’s 204, Caleb Payne’s 166, and Evan Litchfield’s 151.
The Greene Devils then extended their lead to 13-3 after the second game. Gilbert, once again led the way with a 178, Caleb Johnson a 170, and Litchfield another 151.
Greeneville went on to take both Baker games 115-113 and 146-131 to claim the win.
In the girls match Maryville was victorious 17.5-9.5 over the Lady Greene Devils.
Maryville jumped out to an 8-0 advantage after game one by rolling a 776 series. Carly McLeod was Greeneville’s leading scorer with a 158.
Game two saw the Rebels improve to a 786 (and the Devils to a 687), pushing the advantage out to 14.5 – 1.5. Lylli Sopha led the Lady Devils with a 152 and McLeod a 130.
Greeneville swept both Baker games 129-100 and 138-114 to pull within striking distance, but the Rebels’ overall pin total proved to be the difference.
Chuckey-Doak vs Dobyns-Bennett
The Chuckey-Doak boys bowling team started its season on Monday with a 16.5-10.5 loss to Dobyns-Bennett
Dobyns Bennett and Chuckey Doak split the individual points in game one as Evan Stills rolled a 256 and Eric White a 210. However, Dylan Brooks rolled a 243, Aiden Place a 205, and Ryan Barrett a 201 as the Indians pulled to the 5-3 advantage behind the 1184-1144 pin differential.
White’s 223 and Peyton Fitzpatrick’s 207 paced the Knights in game two, but it was the Indians that claimed five of the individual wins and pull to the 12-4 advantage behind Mossy Killen’s 231 and Place’s 222.
Chuckey Doak claimed the first Baker game 186-167 and the second finished in a 160-160 deadlock as the contest came to a close.
The Dobyns-Bennett girls also opened the season with a win, 23.5-3.5 over Chuckey-Doak
Dobyns Bennett jumped out to the 6.5 – 1.5 lead after the first game behind Riley Grace Bridges’ 220, Mackenzie Place’s 184, and Destiny Dishner’s 167. The Knights were paced by Sara Swift’s 167 and Hailey Williamson’s 167.
The Lady Indians pushed the lead out to 12.5 – 3.5 as Bridges kept the hot hand with a 211, followed by Place’s 195 and Madison Wilson’s 190.
DB swept the Baker games 179-149 and 115-106 to claim the victory.
GOLF
The Greeneville girls golf team dominated the field on Monday at Elizabethton Golf Course in the Region 1-A Tournament.
The Lady Greene Devils shot a 154 as a team to beat second-place Seymour by 36 strokes.
Greeneville had the top three individual scores on Monday, led by Brylee Catron with a 75. Kamyrn Renner had a 79 and Kylee Renner shot an 80.
The Lady Devils move on to the Class A State Tournament that will be held next week in Sevierville.
The Chuckey-Doak shot a 210 as a team. Kyleigh Crawford had a 105 and Addilyn Boesch shot a 105.
In the boys tournament South Greene’s Brennan Gregg won a playoff over Greeneville’s Nathan Howlett to earn a trip to the state tournament as an individual. Both shot a 78 over 18 holes, but on the third playoff Gregg earned a par and Howlett had a bogey, breaking the tie.
The Greeneville boys placed second as a team with a 326. Howlett shot 78, Carson Waters had an 80, Bryson Ricker 82, and Landon Aldridge 86.
Elizabethton won the boys team title with a 319, and the Cyclones’ Bryson Hardin was the first-place medalist with a 72.
South Greene shot a 361 as a team led by Gregg’s 78. Keanan Hankins had a 81, Kameron Kinser 92 and Ben Gosnell 110.
VOLLEYBALL
Chuckey-Doak 3, West Greene 0
The Chuckey-Doak volleyball team defeated West Greene 3-0 on Monday evening, 25-22, 25-16-25-23.
Science Hill 3, Greeneville 0
The Greeneville volleyball team fell to Science Hill on Monday 3-0, 25-8, 25-11, 25-16.
North Greene 3, Hampton 0
The North Greene volleyball team picked up a 3-0 win over Hampton on Monday, 25-18, 25-21, 25-20.
Josie Graham led the Lady Huskies with 11 kills. Tralyn Southerland had 10 kills. Addi Dean had 19 digs and 27 serve receptions. Callie Dobson had six kills and two blocks. Mattis Phillips had three kills and three aces.
SOCCER
Science Hill 6, Greeneville 0
The Science Hill soccer team took down Greeneville 6-0 on Monday. Brenna Overbay led the Lady Toppers with three goals.
