SOFTBALL
Greeneville 8, Cherokee 1
The Greeneville softball team went to Cherokee on Thursday night and picked up an 8-1 win in District 2-3A play.
Brynlee Jones was dominant in the circle for the Lady Greene Devils with 16 strikeouts, one walk, and three allowed.
At the plate Greeneville used 10 hits to score its eight runs. Jones was 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple, two RBIs and three runs scored. Brooke Parsley was 2-for-4 with a home run, double and four RBIs. Baylee Ramsey went 2-for-4 with a double, and Brylee Tullock was 2-for-4.
North Greene 8, University High 3
The North Greene softball team improved to 2-0 in District 1-1A play on Thursday with an 8-3 win over University High.
The Lady Huskies earned six hits. Charlie Turnmire was 2-for-2 with two RBIs, and Hannah Brooks was 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
Matti Phillips threw six innings with eight strikeouts, three walks and three hits allowed.
Chuckey-Doak 10, West Greene 8
The Chuckey-Doak softball team went to West Greene on Thursday night and picked up a 10-8 win.
Chuckey-Doak earned 10 hits in the win. Jayden Myers went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. Madisyn Miller was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. Elizabeth Shelton went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs. Hayleigh Seidl was 2-for-4.
For West Greene Victoria Ramsey was 3-for-4 with an RBI. Abby Cluesman was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Aubree Everett was 2-for-5 with two RBIs, and Alexis Cutshall had a double.
Elizabeth Manuel earned the win for the Lady Black Knights. In seven innings she struck out five, walked six, and allowed 10 hits.
Cluesman took the loss for West Greene. In four innings she struck out three, walked two and allowed six hits.
BASEBALL
South Greene 11, Unaka 2
The South Greene baseball team earned it first win of the year on Thursday, beating Unaka 11-2.
The Rebels earned nine hits in the win. Eli Fillers went 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBIs and three runs scored. Charlie Lane, Colton Fillers, Pablo Rosario, T Ricker, Cayden Fillers, Dawson Ripley and Tyler Davis all had singles.
On the mound Ripley earned the win. In 4.1 innings he struck out seven, walked three and allowed two hits. Colton Fillers threw 2.2 innings with five strikeouts, no walks and three hits allowed.
Grainger 12, West Greene 1
The West Greene baseball team fell to Grainger in Thursday, 12-1.
The Buffaloes managed just three hits. Julian Greenlee, Bronson Brown and Joe Reams all had singles.
West Greene used five different pitchers on Thursday. Jhonen Bath took the loss. In one third of an inning he struck out none, walked one and allowed four hits.
Pigeon Forge 8, Chuckey-Doak 1
The Chuckey-Doak baseball team fell to Pigeon Forge 8-1 on Thursday night at Smokies Stadium.
At the plate Colton Seay had a double. Kiptyn Ball was 1-for-2 and walked two times. Dom Atchison scored the Black Knights lone run.
On the mound Lynkin Cutshaw threw 5.1 innings with eight strikeouts, six walks and five hits allowed.
Cherokee 9, North Greene 7
The North Greene baseball team fell to Cherokee on Thursday, 9-7.
The Huskies produced 10 hits on Thursday. Isaac Halley was 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Christian Cogdill went 2-for-4. Aidan Halley had a double while Jaiden Bailey, Isaac Gaby, Tyler Britton, Wyatt Burns, and Colton Cutshall all had singles.
Isaac Halley threw all seven innings for North Greene with three strikeouts, no walks and 12 hits allowed.
TENNIS
The Greeneville tennis teams picked up a pair of wins over Chuckey-Doak on Thursday evening.
The Greeneville girls defeated the Lady Black Knights 9-0.
In singles Greeneville’s Brylee Catron beat Gabby Dimas 8-2. Emma Light beat Khloe Henderson 9-7. Julianne Raby won 8-4 over Jenna Killian. Keri Birdwell defeated Neveah Davis 8-0. Angelyn Diaz won 8-2 Kimberly Puente and Elliana Gaskins topped Khloe Knight 8-1.
In doubles Greeneville’s Raby and Catron beat Dimas and Davis 8-2. Robinson and Light won 8-3 over Henderson and Killian. Birdwell and Diaz defeated Puente and Knight 8-2.
The Greeneville boys took down the Black Knights 7-2.
In singles Greeneville’s Jackson Peters won 9-7 over Braylon Fox. Ryan Jobe beat Paxton Miller 8-1. Parker Quillen defeated Landon Baker 8-5. Kellen Simerly won 8-2 over Noah Foster.
For Chuckey-Doak Logan Malone beat Ray Taniguchi 8-4. Braxton Cornwell won 9-7 over MacCormack Cutshall.
In doubles Greeneville took all three matches. Taniguchi and Jobe beat Malone and Fox 9-7. Peters and Cutshall beat Miller and Cronwell 9-7. Hirschy and Quillen beat Baker and Stansel 8-3.
