SOFTBALL
North Greene 12, West Greene 0
The North Greene softball team wrapped up the regular season on Thursday with a 12-0 win over West Greene.
Hannah Brooks and Kennedy Malone combined to toss a no-hitter for the Lady Huskies. Brooks threw two innings with three strikeouts and one walk. Malone threw one inning with no strikeouts and no walks.
At the plate North Greene earned seven hits. Heidi Trenthan had a home run, Charlie Turnmire had a triple and Matti Phillips had a double.
For West Greene Aubree Everett reached base twice on a pair of walks.
Morgan Brown took the loss. In 2 1/3 innings she struck out two, walked four, and allowed six hits.
The postseason starts next week and North Greene will begin District 1-1A Tournament action by taking on University High on Monday. West Greene will begin play in the District 1-2A Tournament on Monday by hosting Johnson County.
BASEBALL
North Greene 8, Unaka 5
The North Greene baseball team survived a scare from Unaka on Thursday night in the District 1-1A Tournament, claiming an 8-5 victory and advancing to the winners bracket final.
The Huskies will be back in action on Friday against University High who beat Cloudland 32-0 on Thursday.
North Greene only earned three hits on Thursday, but nine walks and two hit batters led to eight runs. Isaac Gaby was 2-for-3 with a triple, and Aidan Halley had a two-run single.
On the mound Halley did enough to earn the win. In 6 1/3 innings he struck out five, walked none and allowed 10 hits.
Greeneville 10, Volunteer 0
The Greeneville baseball team started the District 2-3A Tournament on Thursday with a 10-0 win over Volunteer.
Carson Quillen led the way at the plate and on the mound on Thursday. On offense he went 3-for-3 with a home run, two doubles, two RBIs, and three runs scored. On the mound he threw three innings with five strikeouts, no walks and two hits allowed.
Carson Norris threw the final two innings with two strikeouts, no walks and no hits allowed.
At the plate Norris had three RBIs. Kobe Mundy had a home run, Maddox Bishop had a triple and Kaine Ricker had a double.
Greeneville will take on Cherokee on Friday in the tournament’s winners bracket finals.
South Greene 11, Hampton 0
The South Greene baseball team staved off elimination by taking down Hampton 11-0 on Tuesday in the District 1-2A Tournament.
Seth Franklin had a big day at the plate with a home run and three RBIs. Cameron Kinser was 1-for-2 with two RBIs, and Brendan Lisenby was 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Jacob Susong was 2-for-2.
Tyler Davis earned the win. In five innings he struck out five and allowed four hits.
South Greene will play Chuckey-Doak at 5 p.m. on Friday, and will have to beat the Knights twice to advance to the district championship game.
SOCCER
Jefferson County 4, Greeneville 1
The Greeneville soccer team closed out the regular season on Thursday with a 4-1 loss to Jefferson County.
Greeneville took a 1-0 lead into halftime after Remi Vital headed in a corner kick from Simon Holt in the 28th minute.
The Patriots came to life in the second half started by Sawyer Prubelski who tapped in a goal in the 42nd minute. Josh Diaz scored on a penalty kick and free kick, and the Patriots added another counter-attack goal.
Greeneville had a few good looks in the second half, but sent two shots off the post, and lost a pair of one-on-one opportunities.
Greeneville finishes the regular season with a 6-11-1 record.
