Tennessee 70, South Greene 35
The South Greene boys basketball team started the 2025-26 season on Tuesday night with a 70-35 loss to Tennessee High.
Dealing with key injuries and with its football players only having one practice under their belts the Rebels were shorthanded on Tuesday. Lucas Couch was South Greene’s top scorer with nine points, and Alex Leon had eight points.
West Greene 74, University High 56
The West Greene boys basketball team got its season started on Tuesday night by winning 74-56 at University High.
The Buffaloes spread the ball around on offense and put four players in double figures. Freshman Josiah Dawson led the way with 17 points in his first high school game. Ayden Lamons had 16 points, Tytus Shelton 14, and Carter Stills 10. In addition to that Luke Heck scored nine points and Elijah Williams put in eight.
For University High Tylen Templin scored 18 points, and Janson West Scored 21 points.

Hancock County 48, North Greene 46
The North Greene boys dropped a heartbreaker to Hancock County on Tuesday night, falling 48-46.
With six seconds left Tyler Britton sank a pair of free throws for the Huskies that tied the game at 46-46, but Hancock County’s Nason Delph was able to go the length of floor to beat the buzzer and deliver the win for the Indians.
Britton led North Greene on Tuesday with 25 points. Jaiden Bailey, Havoc Fair and Thomas Darnell each had six points.
Jacob Johnson scored 15 for Hancock County while Delph and Griffen Wallen each had eight.

GIRLS
North Greene 72, Hancock County 31
The North Greene girls basketball team picked up another lopsided win on Tuesday night, taking down Hancock County 72-31.
Everyone who dressed got in on the scoring on Tuesday. Tralyn Southerland led that effort with 19 points. Ella Head was also in double figures with 12 points and Cadie McDevitt scored eight.
Zoe Pyne scored 10 points for Hancock County.

West Greene 42, University High 25
The West Greene girls basketball team started the 2025-26 season with a 42-25 win over University High on Tuesday.
The Lady Buffaloes struggled at times on offense but they got 17 points from Payton Norton. Joie Shipley added nine points.
University High got 10 points from Maggie Ryder.
