The South Greene boys golf team picked up a win on Tuesday at Link Hills Country Club in a four-way match between the county schools.
Keanan Hankins led the Rebels with a 38 to earn medalist honors. Brennan Gregg shot a 41, Mitchell Landers had 43 and Cameron Kinser a 46 for South Greene’s team score of 162.
West Greene shot a 182 as a team. Josiah Dawson led the Buffaloes with a 40, Seth Julian shot 45, Thomas Cogsdell 47 and Xander Crisp 50.
For Chuckey-Doak Knox McAmis shot a 50, Ty Shelton 53, Harrison Ayers 54, and Denver Huff 58. The Black Knights shot a 215 as a team.
North Greene’s Nick Norton shot a 65.
In the girls contest Chuckey-Doak’s Harley Thompson shot a 43 to earn medalist honors. Addilyn Boesch had a 57 and Alexis Deming 65.
Chloe Laws of South Greene shot a 47 and Katie Beth Hollingsworth of West Greene shot a 55.
SOCCER
Chuckey-Doak 2, Gatlinburg-Pittman 0
The Chuckey-Doak Lady Black Knights Soccer Team battled to a 2-0 road win over District foe Gatlinburg-Pittman on Tuesday night.
Though the Lady Black Knights controlled the majority of possession and out shot the Lady Highlanders 15-3, no goals were scored in the first half of action.
In the 45th minute, the Lady Highlanders were called for a push in the back and sophomore Caitlin Larsen sent the resulting direct kick over the GP keeper and into the side netting for the 1-0 lead.
The Lady Black Knights continued to attack and doubled the lead in the 60th minute when Kenley Merriam dribbled through a host of defenders then smashed a shot to the front post that slid into the net for the CD 2-0 lead.
Chuckey-Doak’s defense got the shutout without having any saves in goal.
The Lady Black Knights improve to 5-2 overall, 2-1 in District action.
Greeneville 3, Sevier County 2
The Greeneville girls soccer team survived a late push from Sevier County on Tuesday night to pick up a 3-2 win.
Greeneville scored all three of its goals in the first half, started by Elsie Rodgers in the 10th minute who finished off a pass from Vivian Kammerdiener.
One minute Later it was Kammerdiener who blasted one into the net from six yards on a cross from Peyton Vaught.
In the 21st minute Greeneville’s Andrehina Moreno stretched the lead to 3-0.
Sevier County put in goals in the 24th and 75th minutes.
The Lady Devils are now 5-3-1 on the season.
VOLLEYBALL
North Greene 3, West Greene 1
The North Greene volleyball team picked up a valuable District 1-A win over West Greene on Tuesday 3-1, 18-25, 25-22, 25-19-25-22. North Greene and West Greene are both now 1-1 in league play.
Dobyns-Bennett 3, Greeneville 0
The Greeneville volleyball team fell to Dobyns-Bennett on Tuesday, 3-0, 25-20, 25-16, 26-24.
