South Greene And West Greene Compete At Kyle Morrell Invitational

Morristown, TENN – The Kyle Morrell Invitational unfolded at Morristown West High School, drawing in teams from across the region, including rivals South Greene and West Greene. The track was alive with competition, and the South Greene Lady Rebels were poised for another standout performance, finishing second in the nine team field.

On the girls’ side, South Greene brought their A-game, with Ava Clark leading the charge. Clark dominated the 100-meter hurdles, securing a first-place finish with an impressive time of 16.82 seconds. She wasn’t done yet, contributing significantly in other events, including the long jump, where she soared to victory with a leap of 15 feet 7 inches.

Teammate Alexa Gabbard also showed her prowess, claiming the high jump title with a height of 4 feet 8 inches. The South Greene relay teams blazed their way to success, clinching top spots in both the 4×100-meter relay (clocking 53.43 seconds) and the 4×200-meter relay (finishing in 1:57.33).

Natalie Freise displayed her versatility by excelling in the 300-meter hurdles, earning a solid second place. The field events saw Natalie Foshie shining in the discus, securing second place with a throw of 93 feet 7 inches. Madison Darnell and Kaylee Cutshaw contributed crucial points in shot put, each finishing in the top five.

The South Greene boys, while facing stiff competition, also put forth a commendable effort. Dion Blair showcased his talents in the hurdles, claiming victory in the 110-meter event with a time of 16.78 seconds. Blair continued to impress, securing third place in the pole vault, showcasing the depth of his skills across events.

The relay teams for the boys also made their mark, with the 4×100-meter relay team blazing to victory in 47.19 seconds. Nolan Weems soared to new heights in the pole vault, clinching second place with a height of 9 feet 6 inches. Heath Norton dominated in the shot put, taking home first place with an impressive throw of 44 feet 9.5 inches.

While the South Greene boys finished fourth overall, their individual performances exemplified determination and skill. Trey Gentry’s sprint in the 100-meter dash earned him a respectable sixth place, and Keyshawn Engram impressed in the long jump, securing third place with a leap of 19 feet 9.5 inches.

West Greene High School showcased their athletic prowess at the recent track and field meet, with standout performances from their athletes in various events.

In the girls’ division, Sophia Taylor displayed her endurance and determination by clinching second place in the grueling 3200-meter run, finishing with a time of 15:22.66. Abbey Cox also shone in the field events, securing third place in the discus throw with an impressive distance of 93 feet 4 inches. Cox continued to impress in shot put, claiming second place with a strong throw of 30 feet 3.5 inches.

Brooklyn Hyatt contributed solid performances in the 400-meter dash, finishing in 11th place with a time of 1:51.13, and also competed in shot put, finishing 9th in the finals.

On the boys’ side, Austin Spradling exhibited his speed in the sprint events, finishing 11th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.90 seconds and placing 8th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.44 seconds. Spradling continued his strong showing in the 400-meter dash, securing 7th place with a time of 1:00.11.

Isaiah Roberts represented West Greene in the field events, finishing 15th in the discus throw and 10th in shot put, demonstrating his skill and dedication to his craft.
